BLOWN ON THE WIND ...A COMPANY WHICH HAS GROWN THROUGH RECOMMENDATION
SOME USEFUL PRINTING FACTS
PRINTING "TRAVELSPEAK" MAGAZINE
Travelspeak is printed on a Heidelberg SPEEDMASTER CX102 720 x 1020mm 5 Colour Press. This state-of-the-art press can handle a staggering 16,500 sheets per hour. Just as well since to print in the region of 100,000 copies of Travelspeak each edition takes over 24 hours constant print-face time and involves the use of nearly 90 separate CMYK plates!
GLOSS LAMINATION ON ALL OUTER COVERS
We set the bar very high when it comes to the quality of printing of our 24-page "Travelspeak" magazines. For this reason ALL outer covers have an additional gloss lamination applied, which both protects and enhances the inks applied. No smudges just brilliant technicolour!
WHY IS TRAVELSPEAK 158mm x 223mm SIZE?
We produce the magazine for a large number of UK based travel consultancies. The cheapest postal rates at present are Royal Mail "letter", which allow for mailings up to 165mm x 240mm, a maximum weight of 100 grams and a thickness of up to 6mm. Our magazine is about 3mm thick and only weighs in at 72 grams for the 24-page standard size. Even an extra 4-page fold-in only adds another 9 grams leaving ample excess for an envelope and a folded A4 letter.
Back in 1995 I was working for a well-known luxury tour operator, Abercrombie & Kent, in agency sales & marketing. As part of my creative duties I developed a very basic newsletter that I would send to all my travel agents informing them of interesting destinations and tours. Several years later and having set up my own representation company I continued to produce my very humble 4-page newsletter - now called "Travelspeak" - as it seemed to be appreciated by my travel trade colleagues. Little did I realise where it would go...
"Can you produce something similar that I could send to my clients?"
..then out of the blue, one of my travel ageny contacts called me with a proposition. He wanted a version of the newsletter to send to his customers. I said I would consider the idea but that it would probably work best if it could be produced for some other travel agencies as well to keep costs reasonable by sharing overall costs. This idea developed into a proper business model and the concept of a "white label" luxury travel newsletter was born when the first issue of "Travelspeak" was published in Spring 1999 with just seven customised versions for each of seven agencies across the UK. 15 years later Travelspeak now produces nearly 100 different variations of the magazine for travel agencies and consultancies across the UK.
...and then we were asked to do other publications and design work...
Over the last 15 years Travelspeak has worked with not only travel agents but by nature of the travel content of our core "Travelspeak" magazines we have also nurtured close relationships with international hotels and their UK marketing offices as well as other travel suppliers. Today we are delighted to accept instructions to work on many types of bespoke publishing and design projects.

BROCHURE DESIGN: THE COLLECTION 2014 GP ASSOCIATES
"Congratulations to Ugo on the creation of our new portfolio booklet. He has managed to design a polished reference publication, which will prove indispensable as a point of sales tool. EXHIBITION DISPLAYS & BROCHURE DESIGN:
COLLETTS COLLECTION TRAVEL SHOW 2013
"The posters, pop-up banners, overhead hanging banners, exterior banners and exhibitor display cards were brilliantly designed and the finished displays enhanced the look of the show. Ugo was also involved in the design of all our media advertisements and mailers but special mention must be made of the show catalogue, a sumptuous 60-page A4 perfect-bound brochure, which more than anything else pulled more people through the door on the day."

NEWSLETTER DESIGN: THE TRAVEL CONCEPT
We wanted a second newsletter format that we could circulate to a large number of clients. Cost and mid-market travel appeal were crucial factors, which Travelspeak was able to deliver on. We now have a quarterly "concertina fold" 6-page, glossy newsletter, which is cheap to produce considering the amazing quality. Well done!"
